Liberal Democrat Justice Spokesperson Robert Brown MSP has said that the SNP are giving mixed messages on their commitment to police forces in Scotland after the Justice Secretary announced today that funding levels for police forces could not continue as it was.
Commenting he said:
"The Government are giving very mixed messages about police funding and this casts serious doubt on their stated commitment both to retaining 8 police forces in Scotland and to achieving and keeping 1,000 extra police officers.
"The SNP Government has still got lots of questions to answer about their actual plans for the police budget.
"Political fudges have been the hallmark of the SNP Government and this simply won't do on this important issue."
