Drug addicts waiting too long for treatment

Responding to the statistics on Drug Treatment Waiting Times released today by ISD Scotland, Liberal Democrat Health Spokesman Ross Finnie MSP said:
"It is disheartening that drug addicts are still waiting far too long for the treatment they badly need.
"Months after the Liberal Democrats voiced our concerns over these long waiting times, not enough improvement has been made. One in ten people who want to use this service are waiting more than a year for their first assessment. This is simply unacceptable.
"There are also still too many people waiting over a year for their first intervention or community based support. How can people start down the road to recovery if they are waiting more than a year for treatment?"
