Commenting on the latest redundancies to hit the Scottish whisky industry, almost 100 jobs at Whyte and Mackay, Scottish Liberal Democrat Chief Whip Mike Rumbles MSP said:
"This is yet more very bad news for people in the whisky industry. It shows that we are miles away from an economic recovery as far as people's jobs are concerned.
"Instead of megaphone politics by the First Minister, the SNP should be working on a package of real support for the whisky industry.
"Their proposals for minimum pricing for alcohol will hit the brands made by Whyte & Mackay especially hard. If the SNP is serious about supporting our national drink, then they will drop these plans."
