MP Michael Moore is highlighting an opportunity for non-profit making or charitable organisations in the Borders to apply for funding towards the cost of renewable energy installations or renewable energy feasibility studies.
EDF Energy's Green Fund is offering grants of up to £30,000 to help cover the cost of small scale renewable energy technologies, including wind turbines, solar panels and ground source heat pumps. Since its creation, EDF Energy say that the Green Fund has paid out £3.7 million to more than 200 community projects.Michael Moore: Borders
Mr Moore is encouraging any local groups who think they may be eligible for support to consider submitting an application. The next funding round is open until August 2009, and full details of the scheme, application forms and eligibility details can be found online at www.edfenergy.com/greenfund.
Commenting, Mr Moore said:
'The support being offered through the EDF Green Fund offers local community groups a chance to reduce both their electricity bills and carbon footprint by a significant amount.
'At a time of increasing economic pressures, this funding could boost the long-term prospects of many of the charities and non-profit organisations that do so much good work across the Borders, and help in the fight against climate change.'
