Liberal Democrat Environment spokesperson Jim Hume MSP has seized on a letter from the Environment Minister to the Convenor of the Rural Affairs and Environment Committee, in which the Minister appears to be paving the way for a u-turn on his discredited proposals to sell off swathes of Scotland's forests.
Jim Hume MSPCommenting, Mr Hume said:
"The tone of this letter is very different to that adopted by the Minister last year.
"It looks like he is paving the way for dumping the extremely unpopular proposal to sell off Scotland's family silver by leasing out swathes of Scotland's forests for seventy-five years.
"This is one SNP U-turn that I, along with forestry commission employees and rural industries would welcome."
